Ventilated seats work by blowing air into chambers to increase the airflow within the vehicle. On the other hand, cooled seats blow air over a cooled surface that then ventilates through the seat. The Hyundai Palisade Limited and Calligraphy trims are virtually the same when it comes to features, but the Calligraphy trim sets itself apart when it comes to exterior and interior aesthetics. The 2021 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy offers a new premium grill, quilted leather door panels, and 20-inch Calligraphy-exclusive alloy wheels. The Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy doesn't look like your typical seven-passenger family SUV.  

Another big difference between Calligraphy and the Limited is that the Calligraphy comes exclusively in AWD. Hyundai's HTRAC all-wheel-drive system (AWD), whereas the Limited, comes standard in front-wheel-drive (FWD). This AWD system comes in three modes: Comfort, Sport, and Smart. These modes change power distribution, responsiveness, and handling, depending on the circumstances. Nonetheless, the two-wheel-drive would be a better choice for consumers who rarely see snowfall due to increased fuel efficiency.

What Is The Difference Between Palisade SEL And Limited?

If you are interested in the Palisade but need to find a less expensive trim option, then the Hyundai Palisade SEL is worth considering. Yes, the Palisade SEL is a less expensive option by almost then thousand dollars! The Palisade SEL trim must have way fewer features than the Limited if it's cheaper by that much, right?

Yes and no.

The SEL does come up short when it comes to luxury. The quilted NAPPA leather is no less than spectacular. As we stated before, the Limited trim's ventilated seats are a nice feature during hot days. Other than the leather and ventilated seats, consumers on a budget will be happy to know that the SEL offers several features that the limited has.

The SEL has added these features that are now a part of the standard equipment:  

• Heated front leather seats
• Sunroof
• Bench or captain seating options at no additional cost
• Leather-wrapped steering wheel
• Auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink Universal Transceiver

In addition to these features, the SEL also has more safety technology, including rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist and blind-spot collision warning. That's a pretty impressive list of technology at a reasonable starting MSRP of $35,325. When it comes to features and pricing, the SEL trim package is worth a test drive.

Which Hyundai Palisade Has Leather Seats?

Currently, the leather interior is only in Palisades Limited and Calligraphy packages. The NAPPA leather seats are available in beige and black. The high-grade material makes for a sleek appearance giving passengers a luxurious experience. Whether you choose the light or dark interior, leather inevitably gets hot, so kick on the ventilated seats and cool off!

What Is The Hyundai Palisade Premium Package?

The premium package is an excellent choice for Palisade consumers who want more features but still need to be under the $40,000 price point. The premium package can only be added to the SEL package and is an additional $3,100. The added features include:

For an extra $3,100, the premium package includes: 

• Leather seating surfaces
• Premium dashboard/door armrests
• 8-way power passenger seat
• Driver's seat integrated memory system (IMS)
• Heated second-row seats
• Power folding/unfolding/reclining third-row seating
• Heated steering wheel
• Navigation with 10.25" touchscreen
• Highway drive assist
• SiriusXM, Blue Link Connected Car
• Driver Talk (in-car intercom)

To get this many features and still be over $7,000 less expensive than the Limited is a heck of a value! That's if you can live without the leather and ventilated seats.

Which Hyundai Palisade Has Captain's Chairs?

Putting a car seat in an SUV with three rows of seats can be a pain when accessing the third row. Captain chairs give more versatility by offering easy access to the third row. Passengers can quickly exit or enter the vehicle without worrying about moving the second row or climbing over it.  

The Hyundai Palisade comes standard with captain chairs in three trim packages: SEL, Limited, and Calligraphy. Only its base model, the SE, comes standard with second-row bench seating. The captain chairs are convenient for entry/exit, but having this option does sacrifice one seat. Not only does the SEL have more features than the SE, but it also offers both bench seating or captain seating as an option at no additional cost.

The Limited and Calligraphy trims only come with the captain's chairs even when custom building them on Hyundai's site.

In Closing: Is Cooled Seating Worth It?

There's no argument that air conditioning is pleasant on a hot day. The real argument is if it is worth the extra costs when purchasing a vehicle? Ultimately it comes down to your budget. If cooled seats are a must, but you can't afford one of the new luxury SUVs on the market, then taking a look at used vehicles under 25,000 to 60,000 miles can be a good route to go.

It's no secret that new vehicles depreciate the minute they are drive off the car lot. The benefit of a one to three-year-old vehicle is that they are less expensive than brand new, but the technology is still up to date with the times.
