Does The Kia Telluride Have Heated Seats?

Heated seats are the most unmatched feature that you can have in your vehicle on a cold winter day. So naturally, heated seats are a requirement if you want a new SUV for daily commutes in a cold climate. The Kia Telluride has some of the nicest interior features in the SUV market for 2021 models. But does it have heated seats? And if so, how many does it have? We have thoroughly researched features on the Kia Telluride and have the answer for you in this post.

For the model year 2021, the Kia Telluride has heated seats in both the front and second-row seats, but it depends on the trim. The Telluride S, EX, and SX all have heated front seats as a standard feature. Heated second-row seats are only available as an add-on feature, solely on the Kia Telluride SX. The Kia Telluride LX trim is the only trim without heated seats of any kind.

Heated seats are an important feature for any modern SUV. But, the Kia Telluride has other interior features that give any other SUV on the market a run for their money. Please keep reading to find out more about the availability of heated seats, differences between trims, and other features of the Telluride.

Does the Kia Telluride have Available Heated Seats?

The Telluride is a mid-size SUV sold on the US market by South Korean automaker Kia. The Telluride has many interior features that make the ride comfortable for both the driver and the passengers alike. Most of the trims (S, EX, and SX) of the Telluride include heated seats for both front captain's chairs. The base trim, the LX, is the only one that does not have heated front seats.

Heated second-row seats are a more rare feature for the Telluride lineup. This feature is only available as an add-on and not a standard feature on the SX trim. This is a part of many features that make the SX the best of the four trims. There are no third-row heated seats available on any trim of the Telluride.

Although most of the Telluride trims have heated seats, they do not always share other interior features. The best way to explore the differences between trims on the Kia Telluride is to summarize each of them briefly.

Interior Features on the Kia Telluride LX Trim

First, the LX trim of the Kia Telluride is the base level trim. This trim doesn't have heated seats but does have a few features that make it comfortable and represent the base of the Telluride family. The LX has an eight-inch touchscreen display, five USB charging ports, and UVO link connectivity, which allows you to lock, unlock, and start your car from your smartphone.

The LX trim has seating for up to eight passengers, with bench seating on both the second and third rows. This trim also has a second-row center armrest that contains cupholders. This feature is not found on all trims due to seating differences.

Interior Features on the Kia Telluride S Trim

Second, the first upgraded trim on the Kia Telluride is the S trim. The S trim has many of the same features as the base model, like the eight-inch touchscreen display and five USB charging ports. The S trim has the same UVO connectivity that the LX trim has.

The S trim has second-row captain's chairs that make the SUV only able to hold seven people, although more comfortably. The presence of the captain's chairs means there's no second-row center armrest with cupholders.

Interior Features on the Kia Telluride EX Trim

The third trim on the Telluride is the EX trim. The EX trim has most features from the two base trims, with added features like ventilated front seats, woodgrain accents, and real leather seat trim. The EX introduces the 12.5-inch touchscreen center display, much larger than the eight-inch found on the first two trims. The UVO connectivity on the EX has some advanced navigation capabilities not found on the LX or the S trims.

The EX trim is the only Telluride trim where you can choose between having a second-row bench or second-row captain's chairs. The choice between the two makes the total seating capacity either seven or eight, respectively.

Interior Features on the Kia Telluride SX Trim

The fourth and final trim is the Kia Telluride SX. It has the most available features out of the four and is also the most luxurious. The SX has a large 12.5-inch touchscreen display, a Harmon Kardon 10-inch subwoofer, and a Surround View Monitor, which shows a digital aerial rendering of the outside of your SUV. The SX has the same type of UVO connectivity with added navigation capabilities as the EX trim. The SX trim seats seven people because of its second-row captain's chairs.

What do the Kia Telluride Trims have in Common?

At the end of the day, all four Kia Telluride trims are still the same base vehicle. All trims of the Telluride have a rearview monitor to help with parking, smart cruise control to keep a safe distance between the car in front of you, and a smart key with push to start capabilities. Additionally, features like power locks, air conditioning, and a leather wrap steering wheel come standard on all trims. Each trim also has foldable third-row seats and automatic folding second-row seats.

What's the difference between the Kia Telluride LX and S?

When comparing the two base trims of the Kia Telluride, you won't find many striking differences. The LX and the S are essentially the same trim, with just a few differences in seating structure. The LX has a second-row bench, while the S has second-row captain's chairs. This feature alone is a deciding point for many potential buyers.

What's the difference between the Kia Telluride EX and SX?

The two upper-level trims of the Kia Telluride are a cut above the LX and the S trims but are not so different overall. The SX allows you to upgrade features like leather upholstery. You can change the regular leather for premium NAPPA leather trim for the seats with the SX. That being said, the EX has the advantage of having the option of choosing between a second-row bench or second-row captain's chairs.

The SX trim can be equipped with ventilated seats for the second row, an upgraded sound system, and a driver's seat memory system. The SX also comes with interior mood lighting, head-up display, SuperVision meter cluster, and blindspot view monitor. All in all, the Kia Telluride EX and SX trims are very close to one another. The SX has top-of-the-line features and options above and beyond the other trims.

Does the Kia Telluride have a heated steering wheel?

The two lower-level trims of the Kia Telluride, the LX and the S, do not have heated steering wheels as a standard feature. Additionally, a heated steering wheel is not available as an individual upgrade on either trim. However, both the upper-level trims, the EX and the SX, can add on a heated steering wheel as a supplemental feature.

If you want to buy a Kia Telluride LX but can't live without a heated steering wheel, you aren't completely out of luck. You can find some aftermarket heated steering wheel covers on Amazon. Take a look at this one from Boxgear:

What is the point of a heated steering wheel?

Many modern, luxury cars have a leather material on the steering wheels. This leather can get cold in the winter, just like leather seats do. A heated steering wheel makes driving more comfortable on a cold day, especially before the car gets a chance to warm up. Having a heated steering wheel means you don't have to keep your gloves on once you get in the vehicle.

How do you turn off Telluride heated seats?

If your heated seats in your Kia Telluride were accidentally turned on, here is how you turn them off. First, access the "Setup" menu within your touchscreen display. Next, click on "Vehicle," followed by "Seat." Once there, click on the button that says "Heated/Ventilated Features." Then either toggle the checkmark on or off for the heated seat features within that menu. You can turn your heated seats on using this same method. Here is a video that explains and demonstrates the process as well:

In Closing

Heated seats can be an absolute lifesaver in the dead of winter. If you're in the market for a new SUV and the Kia Telluride has made your shortlist, rest assured knowing that heated seats are a standard feature on every trim but the base trim. The Telluride has other features to elevate your driver or passenger experience regardless of season or outdoor temperature.
