The 2022 RAV4 seats and the Weather Package
As we pointed out earlier in this post, five of the six trim levels of the 2022 Toyota RAV4 come with heated seats in an optional package or standard equipment. While the Limited trim level is the only one that comes standard with heated seats, it also has an optional package for the rear seats.
The package that contains heated seats is called the Weather Package. It is available in all but the base trim level of the RAV4 and gives you heated front seats. It will also equip your RAV4 with a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel, rain-sensing intermittent windshield wipers, and a de-icer function.
The Limited trim level has this optional package, but it adds heated seats for the rear passengers. Both outboard back seats will be heated if this package is selected. While the front seats in the Limited trim level are both heated and ventilated as a standard, the Weather Package does not include ventilated rear seats.
What's the difference between the XLE and Limited RAV4?
The trim levels within any vehicle model are going to have some significant differences. This is especially apparent when comparing the premium Limited trim level to one of the two base trim levels within the RAV4.

- One 12V/120W power outlet
- Blind spot monitor
The Limited trim level takes the features and amenities that are standard to the XLE and adds:
- Dual-zone climate control with pollen filter
- Digital speedometer and instrumentation with analog tachometer, coolant temperature, and fuel gauges
- SoftTex leather-trimmed seats
- heated and ventilated front seats
- Leather-trimmed steering wheel
- Leather-trimmed shifter
- Push-button start
- Keyless entry for hatch
- Hands-free powered liftgate
- Auto-dimming rearview mirror
- Backup camera with dynamic gridlines
- Front and rear parking assist with dynamic braking
- Anti-theft system with alarm and engine mobilizer
What are the different trim levels of the Toyota RAV4?
As we pointed out earlier in this post, the 2022 model RAV4 has six trim levels. Here, we'll list each of them and some of the features that they are equipped with.
2022 Toyota RAV4 LE
The base trim level of this year's RAV4 rides on 17-inch wheels. It has a six-speaker sound system onboard and a seven-inch touch screen infotainment system. LED headlights are also standard for this trim level.
2022 Toyota RAV4 XLE
Building off the lowest trim level, the XLE has a keyless entry system, a blindspot monitor, and dual-automatic zone climate control. It also has additional USB charging ports onboard.
2022 Toyota RAV4 XLE Premium
The first of two mid-tier trim levels, the XLE Premium adds a sunroof and a powered liftgate. It rides on 19-inch wheels and comes standard with LED foglights.
2022 Toyota RAV4 Adventure
The Adventure adds fender flares, taller roof tails, and selectable terrain drive mode for the second of the two mid-tier trim levels. It only comes in a four-wheel-drive configuration, whereas the previous trim levels are standard front-wheel drive with a four-wheel-drive option.
2022 Toyota RAV4 Limited
The top-tier trim level, the Limited adds luxurious interior colors and leather-trimmed upholstery. The Limited has heated and ventilated front seats, a nine-inch touchscreen, and an 11-speaker audio system.
2022 Toyota RAV4 TRD Off-Road
Finally, the TRD Off-Road builds off the Adventure trim level for an even more exciting adventure over rugged terrain. 18-inch wheels and off-road-tuned suspension rounds this trim level out nicely.
What problems does the Toyota RAV4 have?
No matter how long an automaker has been in business or how reputable they are for producing quality vehicles, some issues will arise periodically within any model. Though having a storied reputation for reliability and longevity, even the Toyota RAV4 has seen some issues over the years.
Older model years of this vehicle have had numerous complaints about the engine's excessive oil consumption. But this hasn't been a problem since 2007. More recently, Car Complaints lists the 2019 model as the most problematic. This is due to some pretty serious transmission issues.
The 2019 model year had a total of seven recalls, including one to repair/replace a malfunctioning fuel pump that impacted more than 1.5 million vehicles. Leaking engine coolant was the second most significant recall as far as the number of vehicles impacted, with more than 45k RAV4s being brought in for service.
How long should a RAV4 last?
As reliable as Toyota vehicles are, they are also known for being able to go the distance when it comes to longevity. With some Corollas still being on the highways after well over 300,000 miles, it probably shouldn't surprise anyone that their RAV4 models are also surpassing high mileage milestones.
On average, you can expect the Toyota RAV4 to last upward of 250,000 miles. Of course, for any vehicle to meet and hopefully exceed any mileage milestone, proper care and maintenance need to be delivered when they are due.
Consult the owner's manual of your RAV4 for what maintenance needs to be performed and what intervals it should be performed at. This goes above and beyond just oil and filter changes. Follow the manufacturer's maintenance and care recommendations, and you'll be able to keep your RAV4 on the road for years to come.
The 2022 Toyota RAV4 has six trim levels, most of which have the option for heated seats. This vehicle has a reputation for reliability but has experienced some issues within the 2019 model year. Take proper care of this vehicle, and you can see it last well over 250,000 miles. Drive safe!
