The following locations are all suitable for parking your RV. Keep reading to find out more about each location.

Downtown

The California Science Center

The California Science Center is located downtown at 700 Exposition Park Drive Los Angeles, CA 90037. The lot is daytime parking only. Parking rates can range from $12.00 to $30.00, depending on the size of your vehicle. There are no amenities.

This location puts you in the heart of downtown with many attractions within walking distance. In addition to the Science Center, the Natural History Museum, African- American Museum, and Exposition Park Rose Garden are within 10 minutes of your RV.

Downtown Los Angeles is almost right in the center of two of the most popular attractions in California: Disneyland and Hollywood. The science center is approximately 40 minutes from Disneyland and a little under an hour from the Hollywood sign.

Surface Parking Lot

This is a surface parking lot located at 6815 Hawthorn Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90028. It should be noted here that one of the main issues with recreational vehicles in Los Angeles parking garages is height requirements. Almost all recreational vehicles are too tall for them.

Surface lots can be a solution for daily parking. This one is open until 2 am on the weekends, charges about $25.00 a day, and allows RVs under 22 feet long. It is also just under 4 miles from the La Brea Tar Pits.

Closest to Downtown

Arbor Mobile Home Community

Arbor is the closest overnight and long-term RV accommodation to downtown Los Angeles. It is an age 55 and up community. Located at 300 E. Arbor Street, Long Beach, California 90805, it is 18.2 miles from downtown. 

Arbor Mobile Home Community is right next to Shoreline Village where shopping and restaurants are available on the water. Disneyland is about 30 minutes away to the south and Hollywood is about 30 minutes away to the north.

Daily rates for RVs can range from $40.00 to $50.00 a night, depending on weekends and holidays. Full hook-ups are available. 

Golden Shores RV Resort

Golden Shores RV Resort is located at 101 Golden Shore, Long Beach, CA 90802. It is 24.4 miles from downtown Los Angeles. A heated pool and spa, a dog run, laundry, and free WiFi are all on-site.

Nearby attractions include Disneyland, the Queen Mary Steamship, and the Aquarium of the Pacific. Full hook-ups are available. Daily, weekly, and monthly rates start at $69.00 per day. Rates are different for weekends, holidays, and special events. Calling ahead is recommended. 

Dockweiler RV Park

Dockweiler RV Park is a Los Angeles County run campground. It is 18.4 miles, less than 45 minutes, from Los Angeles. This RV park is located at 12001 Vista Del Mar, Playa Del Rey, CA 90293,and is right on the beach.

Amenities include full hook-ups, picnic tables, and barbeque grills. There are 118 sites and reservations are recommended. The maximum length of a stay is 21 nights with a daily rate between $65.00 to $75.00.

Staying at Dockweiler puts you right up the road from Marina Del Rey. This is a large and popular marina with entertainment, activities, a visitor's center, and restaurants.

Santa Monica Beach Parking

Parking in Santa Monica is another great option. It's within 40 minutes or so from downtown Los Angeles. There are at least 13 parking lots that allow RVs along the Pacific Coast Highway. Lot 1 North is open from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m., making it the one that's available for the longest time.

Rates for parking vary seasonally and can run between $28.00 and $48.00, depending on whether it's summer or winter. While these are simply parking lots with no amenities, they are close to some great things to do.

Restaurants and shopping opportunities are nearby as well as the Santa Monica Pier and many entertainment venues. You are still less than an hour away from both Disneyland and Hollywood.

Almost An Hour Away

Orangeland RV

Orangeland RV has been in Orange, California since 1972. It offers 195 sites with full amenities. As one of the closest parks to Disneyland, it's just 30 miles from downtown Los Angeles.

High-speed internet, pull-through lots, and orange trees with fruit you can pick are just a few features. On-site activities include a heated swimming pool, an exercise room, pool tables, mini-golf, and shuffleboard games.

Not far from Orangeland RV are some popular Los Angeles attractions such as Universal Studios, Medieval Times, Camelot Golfland, and the Santa Ana Zoo.

Bolsa Chica State Beach

This California State Park is tucked away at 17851 Pacific Coast Highway, Huntington Beach, CA 92649. It has 50 campsites with electric and water hookups.

It is very close to Disneyland and only 32 miles from downtown Los Angeles. Bolsa Chica features a visitor's center with interpretive exhibits, as well as fishing, surfing, and other water sports. Daily rates are the same all year and start at $22.50, going up to $65.00 or more.

Walnut RV Park

Walnut RV Park is located at 19130 Nordhoff St, Northridge, CA 91324. In addition to the daily starting rate of $75.00, they offer weekly rates beginning at $477.50. There are monthly rates upon request. 

Its amenities include glamping, a heated swimming pool, full hook-ups, and an on-site pet sitter/walker. The park may be 32 miles from downtown Los Angeles, but it is only about 20 minutes from Hollywood.

Located just north of Universal Studios, Walnut RV Park is the farthest on this list from Disneyland, but it offers easy access to Six Flags Magic Mountain and the Los Angeles Zoo.

Hollywood RV Park

Hollywood RV Park is located at 7740 Balboa Blvd., Van Nuys, CA 91406. Daily rates start at $65.00 and weekly rates are available beginning at $395.00.

The park has offered travelers a wide variety of options and amenities since 1976. On-site murals and artwork are two of those amenities, as well as live entertainment, full hook-ups, WiFi, and a gym.

Disneyland is over an hour away from this RV park, but it is the closest one to Hollywood. The Hollywood Sign is nearby, with The Walk of Fame and Beverly Hills just 30 or 40 minutes away.

At 53 minutes and 30 miles away, Hollywood RV Park may be one of the farthest from Los Angeles, but it is definitely in a class of its own.

Parking At Walmart And Other Retail Locations

In the past, Walmart has been a friendly overnight parking option for RV travelers on the road. Over the last few years, many stores have stopped allowing this.

The option is left up to the store manager and it varies whether you can park at the store or not. This policy also applies to other retail locations such as Cracker Barrel and Home Depot.

The Walmart at 9001 Apollo Way in Downey, CA still seems friendly according to this website designed to find overnight parking locations. At 27 minutes away, it is the closest place to park to downtown Los Angeles.

How Much is RV Parking at Disneyland?

Parking at Disneyland is comparable to other rates in the area. It costs $30.00 a day with no overnight parking and is only available in the Toy Story Parking Area.

There are RV resorts available around Disneyland. Rates for overnight parking with full hook-ups are only slightly higher than Disneyland's daily rate, making them worth checking out.

One RV resort that's right next door to the park, Anaheim Harbor, has rates that start at $45.00 per day.

Can You Park Your RV In Your Driveway In Los Angeles?

If your RV is 22 feet long or less, you may obtain a permit that will cover a certain amount of time that the RV can remain in your driveway. However, this is only valid if you are a resident and it is your RV.

Visitors and guests of a resident may obtain a specific permit to park there as well. Vehicles over 22 feet long are subject to additional regulations.

Is It Illegal To Live In An RV In LA?

According to the latest city ordinances, you cannot legally live in an RV anywhere in the city of Los Angeles. In 2018, the law against people living in recreational vehicles and cars expired. However, in July of 2019, the law was reinstated by the Los Angeles Municipal Council.
