Choosing the vehicle that’s the right fit for you requires an in-depth look at the features and specs. Toyota Tacoma SR Packages

Blue Toyota Tacoma

The entry-level Tacoma, the SR, features 16-inch steel wheels, fabric-trimmed seats, power doors and windows, connected music services, an integrated backup camera, and Toyota Safety sense, which helps avoid collisions with a range of onboard tech. One optional add-on is the SX package, which adds black alloy wheels and exterior upgrades on the door handles and headlights.

The Utility Package, conversely, lowers the cost by $1,780. The Utility option removes the rear seats and cupholders, takes out the intermittent wiper, and adds black door handles, mirror caps, and bumpers.

The SR comes in either an access cab with a six-foot bed or a double cab with a five-foot bed. With an SR package, your trim choices include:

Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road Packages

A TRD Off-Road package involves machined contrast alloy wheels (16-inch), fabric-trimmed seats, Toyota Safety Sense, and a chrome rear bumper plus black overfenders and color-keyed door handles. Available options span everything from crawl control to multi-terrain select to a smart key system with push-button start.

Additional upgrade packages on the TRD Off-Road range from $3,670 (premium audio with dynamic navigation plus options) to $6,440 (TRD Premium off-road package for a double cab, with options).

The TRD Off-Road offers an access cab (six-foot bed) or double cab (five- or six-foot bed) option. You can get a TRD Off-Road in one of five trims:

  • 4x2 Double Cab V6 6-Speed Automatic Short Bed ($34,000)

Toyota Tacoma Limited

Basic features on the Tacoma Limited are high-level. You’ll find leather-trimmed seats, Toyota Safety Sense, front dual-zone automatic climate control, premium JBL audio, a moonroof, and a panoramic view monitor.

As its name indicates, the Limited doesn’t come with a lot of choices. There are two select trims:

  • 4x2 Double Cab V6 6-Speed Automatic ($38,790)
  • 4x4 Double Cab V6 6-Speed Automatic ($41,865)

Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Packages

Key features of the Tacoma TRD Pro include TRD pro tailgate badging, black alloy wheels, sequential LED turn signals, a power tilt/slide moonroof with a sliding sunshade, leather-trimmed and heated front seats, FOX internal bypass shocks, premium audio service, and a multi-terrain monitor with camera. Additional camera features like the blind spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert add to the on-screen spec list.

Premium JBL audio (plus navigation) is standard, and so is the styling. The TRD Pro has a cat-back exhaust, a TRD Pro front skidplate, and a hood scoop with unique graphics. With the Pro, there are no further “official” upgrades available—likely because you already have it all in the basic package.

The TRD Pro is only available in a double cab style with a five-foot bed. TRD Pros come in two trims:

  • 4x4 Double Cab V6 6-Speed Automatic ($46,665)
  • 4x4 Double Cab V6 6-Speed Manual ($43,960)

What Color and Interior Options Do Toyota Tacoma Packages Have?

Black Toyota TacomaThere’s no set answer to which packages offer a specific paint job or interior style. Even if you choose to build a custom Tacoma, your online options are limited to what your local dealer can offer.

In general, the color options for Tacomas are voodoo blue, super white, silver sky metallic, magnetic grey metallic, midnight black metallic, Barcelona red metallic, quicksand, and cement. Some options aren’t available on the SR and SR5, however. For the interior, the options range from sport fabric (black or grey with color accents) to leather.

Can All Tacomas Tow Trailers?

While not every Tacoma comes with a tow package, they do have the horsepower for it. You can carry a lot of cargo, too, with the SR model accommodating a payload of 1,685 pounds. Towing capacity for the SR is 3,500 pounds, per Toyota. Of course, you’ll need to add towing accessories to be ready for a weekend trip.

A Variety of Great Choices

With six basic trim options—and endless variations and add-ons—every Toyota Tacoma is truly an original.  The range in price is staggering, too, with entry-level models starting at just over $20,000 and well-equipped options topping out well over $50,000. But now that you know what each trim involves, it’s easier to make the buying decision that’s right for you.
