How do I install Honda CarPlay?
For your Honda Fit to use Apple CarPlay, you'll first have to install it. This is a relatively quick and easy process. You can do this by taking the following steps in order.
It's also important to know that CarPlay will only work if you have an iPhone 5 or above. Unfortunately, this technology won't work with the earliest iPhone generations.
- Start your Honda Fit, but you'll need to leave it in "park."
- Using your Honda Infotainment screen, select Apple CarPlay.
- You'll now need to activate Siri on your iPhone. This can be done by going to your iPhone's settings and selecting Settings>General>Siri.
- Using a USB cable, connect your iPhone to your Honda Fit.
- Apple CarPlay should now populate on your Honda infotainment screen. If it doesn’t, simply tap the Apple CarPlay icon.
- Then, as soon as Honda Apple CarPlay is running, follow the on-screen prompts.
- After Apple CarPlay is installed, activate it by tapping the CarPlay icon on your infotainment screen. This will work if your iPhone is connected via the USB cable or via BlueTooth.
How does Honda Apple CarPlay work?
Think of Apple CarPlay as a method of mirroring the screen of your iPhone to the infotainment screen of your Honda.
Using digital technology, this information is transmitted from your iPhone to your Honda's electrical brain. This information can be transferred via a USB cord or through BlueTooth.
While meant to be used for Apple iPhone apps, CarPlay also recognizes certain third-party applications. Spotify and Pandora are great examples of this, for instance.
Apple CarPlay allows you to use the features of your iPhone without taking your eyes off the road. Apple CarPlay can use the voice-activated Siri feature so that the driver can have a truly hands-free experience.
